Our DS, Fola Adekeye; friend of the Champions, mentor and chairman
Fola is an educationist and newsmagazine journalist. He holds national and international media merit awards as a journalist. He was the Senior Assistant Editor, TELL; Associate Editor/Head, Newsroom, THEWEEK and Assistant Editor, NEWSWATCH. A Gordon N. Fisher Fellow of University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Adekeye holds a Degree in English Studies from University of Ilorin, a Post-graduate Diploma in Education, PGDE and a BBC World Service Certificate in News Journalism. Adekeye is the author of the best selling books: DARING GRACE OF A BUSH BOY (an autobiography), FOOTPRINTS, ENGLISH GRAMMAR FOR COLLEGES, among others in Nigeria.
With a rich media background, Fola currently combines his job as the Director of Studies of Champions International Schools with the teaching of school boys and girls in Creative Writing and Critical Thinking.
His media company, Betweenthelines Communications Limited (BCL) Lagos, annually publishes “Champions TELL” a school magazine, which gives ample glossy pages to children’s creative enterprise – short stories, poetry, drama, scientific experiments and breakthroughs.
Adekeye is currently the CEO of BTL. He is on the Advisory Committee of Journalists For Human Rights, JHR,a Toronto-based non-governmental organization and member, International Network of Communication for Education and Development in Africa, COMED, Cote D’ Ivoire.
A well-travelled journalist, Adekeye was the African journalists’ representative on the study tour of New York, Miami and Washington DC in 2003. With “Freshwater Management” as theme, the study tour was arranged by the United States Department of State, Washington DC under its International Visitor Program. He participated in the study of Finnish Culture and Politics in the same year as arranged by the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Department for Press and Culture, Kanavakatu, Helsinki under its Visit to Finland Programme, VFP. Adekeye, a Commonwealth Media Award finalist, was also at various times Print Journalist of the Year, Investigative Reporter of the year, Environment Reporter of the year and Political Reporter of the year. Adekeye is former Chairman, Newswatch Chapel, Nigerian Union of Journalists; member, Journalists for Christ in Nigeria and Patron of National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools in Ogun State. The Lord God blessed him with the Holy Spirit, a prudent wife, Bose and divine champions.
